Technical Analysis, February 15, 2012 – US Dollar

Daily

So far the US Dollar is going as predicted with a touch of resistance from late 2010/early 2011 and a pullback forming a cup and handle formation.  The dollar has climbed recently on fears of a Greek default and appears ready to touch the 50 day moving average.  The MACD is about to make a bullish cross of the signal line with the RSI breaking above 50, a signal that the USD may be heading higher.

A breakout above 81 would mean a move to the 89 level and a test of 2010’s highs.

Weekly

On the weekly chart the selloff tested the 200 week moving average and possibly ready to head higher.  The MACD is telling a different story with a bearish signal line crossover.
Short-term we may rattle around at the current levels but longer term the USD is headed to test the 89 level later this year.
